Step 6 - Making Money

So we're finally here, probably the step you've been waiting for the most: capitalizing on your blog's traffic.

These days the easiest way to make money from your site is by joining the Google Adsense Program. Join Adsense here.

As Wikipedia states, Adsense is an ad serving program run by Google. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image and, more recently, video advertisements on their sites. These ads are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis.

So you'll earn money for every click that someone makes on an ad on your site. If you haven't already realized this, you are not allowed to click on your own ads or encourage someone else to do it - Google will know and will ban you for life if you try any cheating - so don't do it!

Google does let you choose the colors of the ads(border, background, title, text, url) and it is always a good idea to make the ads blend with your site - for example if the background of your site is light blue then make sure your ad background and border are also light blue so they blend in and look a lot less like ads ... your CTR(click-through-rate)will grow using this technique ;)

Another good way of capitalizing on your traffic is joining affiliate programs and promoting their products on your site.

A good place to start would be to join Clickbank.com - this is probably the best affiliate network on the net which will provide you with a wide variety of affiliate programs to promote and make money from.

You can also find affiliate programs by searching on Google for"keyphrase + affiliate program" ... pretty obvious huh ? ;)
